I have always heard about fasting but never knew anything about it. This has been interesting to read about.

When you sick FASTING IS THE BEST THING FOR YOU as it lets your system focus on GETTING BETTER and not digesting food,etc.........

I considered it...tried a "water and healthy juices" type fast. Was worried about brain needing all that glucose, so I stopped.

I know calorie reducing is very good for health and would love to have a certified nutritionist to guide me so that I don't fall short of something that would stay with me forever.

Brain health is very important to me. I am reading everything I can to keep brain healthy. I don't see how that can be done without energy/food/stuff like that.

I know many cultures of the world do fasting, and many do the 'fasting' just because but I also know of a person who is always fasting for her religion and she's heavier than ever, her body goes into fear that it's being starved...I believe there is something to this. The body is very smart.

Eating healthy with veggies, protein and clean water is important. For brain health you might also consider grape seed extract as it works all the circulation of our body. I'm headed to 21 yrs taking it.

I am a fan of short fasts; by that I mean a 24 - 36 hour fast occasionally. I recently started a once a week 24 hour fast; I eat breakfast then fast until breakfast the next day. I do ingest some bone broth or the like once or twice during that day, but no solids. This makes me feel great; I sleep well, and helps drop my weight down a bit (even if temporarily) It seems to help with a lot of issues. Giving one's digestive system a break gives the body a chance to make other repairs.

For myself, I would not do longer fasts, as I am Type 2 diabetic and also extremely active.
