Can anyone suggest a natural, effective brand of RYR plus coq10? Despite diet and exercise, my cholesterol won't budge. (219). My doctor agreed that I can start with this instead of prescribed statins. I am aware that RYR has statins-like ingredients, and may have similar side effects,
but I still rather start there.

RYR bought in 500gram packages, used to be found in chinese grocery stores. About $3/pkg 15 years ago. Even grinding the rice and putting the powder into capsules, was enough to give me severe muscle pain. Also can not tolerate, Tricor, a fibrate. I tolerated Tricor and statins for 4 years before I discovered that all my pain was from these drugs.
Plus, these drugs did not change my cholestrol or triglycerides (hyper).
Starch foods and sugar control affects my cholestrol and triglycerides more than anything else.
The Chinese only use a minute quantities of RYR for then for food coloration, yet it was enough to give indication for cholestrol control.
I read one paper that stated ~40% of Asians (specific asians are even less tolerant) can not tolerate statins at all.
Original study also did not include enough asians and thus concluded that the incidence of muscle ailments as minor and rare.
YMMV
I've always had a low ratio, even though my LDL is high. My HDL is also relatively high, so I get a good ratio. I've never run into a doctor who goes by the ratio, though, and I don't know why they don't factor that in.
Try this,, totally natural.

Interesting. I take "CholestePure Plus" by Pure Encapsulations. Recommended by my doctor. She also rec RYR but after she told me about the possible muscle pain, I decided to see how I do with the Chol Remedy itself.
It is similar to what you take: 500 mg of Phytoserols
400 mg Berberine HCI
160 mg Bergavit 40 bergamot (Citus bergamia extract fruit)

This is what Dr Mercola says about the ratio:
To find out what your HDL-to-total cholesterol ratio is, just divide your total
cholesterol by your HDL level. For example: if your total cholesterol is 200 and
your HDL is 50, you would divide 200 by 50. Your HDL cholesterol ratio to total
cholesterol is then 4-to-1. Preferably it should be under 5-to-1 or 5.0. Ideally, it
should be 3.5-to-1 or lower—and the lower it is, the lower your risk of heart
disease.
