Yes, it's the internet and MOST now live on the internet...what about C-D internet? MOST will never know a soul here personally and yet we believe a lot of what is said here. Right? I believe some here and many I do not and many just don't know anything FOR SURE....lots of opinions.

I just heard Dr. Darrow again and a lot of callers so fearful of surgeries: back, knees, hips. I'm actually thinking of going to Darrow for a consult and talk about the infection I went thru and what he thinks of my knee....I so fear a knee surgery/replacement. As I said I've done prolo for about 10 yrs and this last injection was I'm afraid the infection factor, but again, NOT SURE, but I think. I don't believe it was from acupuncture, but it could have been. Again no sureness here.

There is no guarantee with any surgery. I had both of my hips replaced about 12 years ago. They damaged a nerve in one leg and 12 years later it's still aggravating me. I have a constant IT band issue in my other leg, I can only assume it's from the hip replacement because I never had the issue before the surgery.

I would love to know what the reality is on stem cell treatments vs knee replacements. My orthpedist is telling me I need both of my knees replaced but because of all the prior surgeries to my knees the surgery is more complicated and he wants to refer to me some specialist. They don't even talk stem cell treatments. Both of my hip replacements are beginning to have issues, I have toxic levels of chromium and cobalt in my blood from the metal on metal wearing down.

So what is the truth. I read the hospitals would lose big time to stem cell treatments for joint replacements. It makes you wonder why the FDA restricted stem cell growth in the USA, Dr's can no longer grow/multiply stem cells here. What is the real reason? Are stem cells voodoo medicine or are they protecting big business? I'm a skeptic either way. I don't who to believe.

I would love for some new medical science to come along to avoid joint replacement surgeries. I have had 15 surgeries so far to correct joint issues in my legs over the years. It sucks. Every surgery had it's issues.

Gliderguy: Good grief you sound like me, almost 7 yrs out hip replacement. Nerve damage, IT band damage, shorter leg which has led to a way worse knee issue.

I just don't know, I was doing dextrose prolo in the problem knee and the 5th injection "it felt wrong" and not much later I ended up with an infection. Long story on this one that I posted in H&W under Staph Arthritis..I think that's what I called it.

I've had dextrose prolo over the years in shoulder and back and other knee and NEVER had issues...this last one in problem knee was just done wrong I suppose.

My sister who passed recently from battle with MS was kept hanging on by doctors for stem cells...that never happened for her. Maybe stem cells would "cure" MS and think of the millions of dollars lost on the MS drugs. My sister was always talking about the cost of the new drugs that she was trying.

Probably true the surgeons would lose lots of money IF other cures were out there.
This is a major issue and many suffer from the replacements. Some do OK, but a lot don't.

Our system is so money driven, profits for health.

PS: I've heard Dr. Darrow say that the PRP and Stem Cells won't work, for the most, part, on joints that have had surgery done and the body is living with metals. He has a lot of people call in about the problems they live with due to replacements. Supposedly best when used on "virgin" bodies, not with surgeries.

One othopedist gave me a shot of Synvisc. I knew something was wrong because I could barely walk back to my car after the injection. Within a few hours my knee blew up like a balloon. I had to wait two days to see the Dr and they had to drain my knee. That was no fun.

I also had a bone marrow tumor in my left tibia a few years ago. That by far has been my worst surgery. I did not have much choice, amputation or try this technique where they open the cavity of your bone and use liquid nitrogen to kill the cancer. They don't replace your marrow, the Dr's feel the cancer would come back. So instead they fill your cavity with a bone cement. Your bone is no longer healthy so they screw a titanium plate down the tibia. That plate drives me crazy, any flexing of the ankle causes my leg to go black/blue and I need crutches for a full day while it recovers. I guess I have to be thankful I have my real leg but these surgeries seem to always cause some other issue.

I do have some metal on my knees, so I guess the stem cells would be a no go.

Best to talk to a prp/stem cell doc and get consult. I had two series of the HA injections which are synvisc and eufflexa over a few yrs and none did anything for me.

J,

I have began using D'Oxyva for increased blood flow with daily 5-minute cartridge applications. Have you heard about this therapy? A local doc uses it for my Arthritic Neuropathy so I began using it at home because it's portable

I looked at that ad and it's pricey isn't it. I'm not in the mood right now to talk to docs. I have a tough time walking since my knee issue and my next visit to ortho doc will be in July sometime. To get his evaluation on knee replacement which I so dread.

Two friends are getting hip replacements today. Hope they have GOOD outcomes.
