Insomnia seems to be a huge issue around here. I've added it with P5P (B6) to my Sleep Remedy that is already here. The P5P is said to be used for better absorption. I take 500mg L Tryptophan, 50mg P5P.
One can adjust accordingly to their body.
Before I added these two, when I would wake up for bathroom runs, some times I could lay there 2-3 hrs and not get back to sleep. Now, that's not the case, I get right back to sleep.
I start my sleep combo at 8:30PM with the 1mg Melatonin.
At 9:30PM or so I take the rest of the stuff including the above 2.
I'm ready to hit the pillow at 10:30PM and I'm out pretty quickly. Everyone needs to adjust to what time they want to go to sleep.
I've mentioned B6 here and this info came in this morning on Not Getting Enough B6? Sleep is mentioned, I've not read thru it all but thought I'd post it.
Just talking to my friend who brought this to my attention on the amino acid and B6 and she told me too, getting more tryptophan elevates serotonin and hence less depression and mood issues and especially in women.
Do your research to confirm it in your minds. I'm so thankful to her.
I feel like a kid in a new candy store finding the benefits of L Tryptophan for better sleep as I've posted here but finding it does so much more, so I'm going to start to take it during the day a bit, ON EMPTY STOMACH.
This amino raises one's Serotonin and so many woman need that benefit. So many take A/D drugs and could be this amino could take the drug's place. Just thinkin. I've been feeling low and blaming it on pain from OA and this could be but could also be I need more Serotonin. More Serotonin could also reduce pain.
Here is a good informative link and there are many to look at.
I've used 5-HTP on and off for many years. It's related to tryptophan but it's a step or two further along in the conversion process towards serotonin. I've read that it's much more stable than tryptophan, and also you have less loss from conversion, therefore you can take less of it.

And I've tried to work with 5HTP and for me, tryptophan works best. I'm testing myself and taking some Tryptophan during the day, as I'd love to reduce overall pain too.
