Again, todays main symptom is cough and chest congestion with mild nasal congestion. The cough is productive.

Well, the title asked for alternatives and this is the alt med thread, so this is what would happen in our family.
Thursday - start taking teaspoons of Elderberry concentrate, breathe in On Guard essential oils, stock up on tissues with lotion, drop dairy and drink orange juice and pom juice and water, use Vicks VapoRub to keep nasal passages clear
Friday - continue above, drink George's Aloe Vera juice to soothe throat, lay on the couch and out in the sun
Saturday - cough it out, if necessary, go buy an Expectorant to help loosen it up
