If I were to visit Mexico City, I would visit these places...

Polanco (particularly Avenida Masurek) but I would also love to walk around the rest of the neighborhood.

Paseo De La Reforma

the statue of El Angel de la Independencia

Calle Genova

the historic city centre

the main plaza in that centre.

Are there any other places I should visit?

Should I be concerned about safety or anything else? Thanks.

Mexico City has so many places of interest, tourists attractions, and cultural venues; that its impossible to visit them all in one life time, let alone list them.

I suggest you do what I did.

Buy yourself this Mexico City guide: https://www.amazon.com/Mexico-City-C.../dp/9681912985

Its the official Mexico City guide and its complete! I bought mine a few years ago and it has helped me tremendously. Some of the things I really like about the guide is that it has helpful maps including a complete map of Mexico City's Metro on the back, 3D renders of the major buildings/churches/archeological sights, and the paper used is of very good quality and laminated.

There are so many places of interests that its impossible to list them all.

Once you visit Mexico City, you will find yourself going back multiple times in the future. It truly is that type of a place; and that guide will be helpful during each and every single visit.

Enjoy!

In the World's forum there's this recently started thread where some information on Mexico City is shared (along with rubbish from some ignorant posters, but this is the internet and that's par for the course too; lol.)

https://www.city-data.com/forum/world...york-city.html

Also, a few seconds ago I glimpsed at one of my bookshelves and, I kid you not, my eyes landed on a small book I forgot I have about Mexico City. LOL

Its called "Mexico City Architecture & Design." It's a small book that lists, with beautiful photos, the most important and interesting modern and post-modern buildings in Mexico City from an architectural point of view. It's a nice concise way to see what the city has to offer in terms of interesting architecture and deciding what buildings you want to see during your visit. I'll see if I find the book on sale somewhere online. Once I find it, I will post a link.

Mexico City is a mind blowing city....I highly recommend it. However, I would rather stay in the Roma Norte or La Condessa neighborhood. More interesting neighborhoods than Polanco...though not far from each other.

When I was there I stayed in a neighborhood just between Polanco and Roma Norte. As I said above, if I go back I would pick Roma Norte. Very walkable, well located and vibrant street life. Polanco is nice but a bit more spread out and quieter.

The teotihuacan pyramids are about a 45 to 60 minute ride outside the city center. Don't miss it...it is something else.

Yes, do your research and stay in the nice or middle class neighborhoods and you will absolutely fine. I found the uber drivers in Mexico City to be very polite, professional and helpful.

Try to brush up on your Spanish before you go. Always good to make an effort to speak the local language though you will find quite a bit of people speak decent English.

Chapultapec Park and the museum there. It is the only royal castle in North America to be used by a sovereign (Emperor Maximilian).

We love CDMX (Ciudad Mexico). Heading back for another visit in a few months.

We stay here: The Red Tree House – Staying with friends It is in Condesa.
