Taking multiple showers a day doesn't mean you won't have a scent. Perhaps it's your incompatibilty with these people that you are smelling. I find it hard to believe Europeans of any ilk would be rejected by Dominicans, but I suppose I could make educated guesses if I cared enough.
People do comment (other times not comment but make certain faces of disapproval and pointing usually with the lips of who they are referring to) about these things and many times not in subtle ways or behind closed doors when the person(s) isn't there.
In addition, other things happen a lot such as if there is an issue and a foreigner (European or not) is involved, it's almost a given that the Dominicans will get together in defense of the other Dominican simply because he's Dominican. Case in point, if in this case a European gets into a vehicular accident with the driver of the other vehicle is Dominican, regardless who's fault it's for the accident, it's almost guaranteed that the foreigner will be held responsible even at the court level. It's very clear that in the DR Dominicans are the ones in charge.

Yeah that should be a well known scam by now. Even motorbike drivers will run into a gringo driver on purpose. Fake an injury. Then the police are called, they tell the gringo no big deal just come to the police station to make an official report. Then the police say the motorbike driver has injuries = 2K 3K 4K USA. Pay that all is well. Gringo says no to the police here is a lawyer you can call. Police Lawyer and the Judge are all in on the shakedown. Surely DR isn't the only place to do this.
In the late 80's into the early 90's Mexicans in Cali did the same stuff to shake down insurance companies. Eventually Insurance companies caught on and stopped and said lets go to court.
Lots of anti-Asian female rhetoric in the beauty world, my girlfriend who is Asian can attest to this. We have our first Asian miss universe and now people seem to have an issue with it, but not before
Miss USA won 1st place, becoming the first Filipino-American to win.
Miss Dominican Republic came in second place.
This is where the controversy starts. Many people in the Dominican Republic feel that this year’s Miss DR is one of the most beautiful women ever sent to a Miss Universe pageant. Furthermore, she coming in second place is a further testament considering at that level practically all the misses are surpassed. So, how is it that Miss USA wins when Miss DR is more beautiful (not to say Miss USA isn’t beautiful, otherwise she wouldn’t be in that pageant. Needless to say, many people think something more than beauty and answering their questions went into picking Miss USA over Miss DR in this occasion.
The USA itself has sent very stunning women to Miss Universe over the years, who themselves would be 2023 Miss USA on looks alone.
Many commentaries in several Dominican radio stations, TV channels, and even in social media actually criticized this today. The criticisms all go to the organizers of the pageant, not Miss USA per se. I think if Miss USA would had been extremely stunning or Miss Venezuela had won, this controversy would not had arisen.
Also, Miss Puerto Rico made it to the too 5, but then eliminated to give way to the top 3 finalists. It would had been interesting if the too two would had been Miss DR and Miss PR since there is some sort of rivalry between the two islands that always comes out in events like this, lol.
Also funny is that of the top 3, two are from Latin America. lol
Anyway, congrats to Miss USA, first Filipino-American to win Miss Universe.
Beauty (which is in the eyes of the beholder as there is no absolute definition of what beauty is) has long ceased to be the sole criteria. In the final stages I suspect the interview is more important.
