Thanks again for all the great advice! You guys have been very helpful, and I've learned a lot. Tigre79 is right, outside of the occasional ski trip to Colorado for spring break, my family hasn't really spent any time in "winter" weather. Snow pants aren't something that we have down here in Texas. I have also never worn a scarf. I have a lot to learn about winter, I'm afraid.

@ Tigre: I was born in Ft. Worth and have lived in the area for my entire life. I went to TCU, and have always lived with in about 15 miles of the campus. Nice to see another Texan here!

Can anyone recommend what to do with a 16 month old going into the winter (Vermont here, not Alaska). I am looking for something easy to get him outside where he isn't going to get snow in down his shoes or on his feet. He won't keep gloves on, so I need a suit of some sort.

Are Kamik boots any good? they make some rated to -40F but I think they are pretty heavy. They do look cozy. Kamik : Select Region (http://www.kamik.com/product/kids/snowday/877 - broken link)

looking for lowest nonsense, easiest on and off because we are in and out all day.
