Man some snow would be nice down here right now. It musta been a 100 degrees here again. I'm sunburnt (on my face only) and there isn't even a lake around here to swim in.

It snowed in the mountains here a few weeks ago. So yeah, even pretty far south you can find yourself driving in snow in the middle of summer.

The mountains are different. Lowlands though, another story. Considering Anchorage's record low for July is only 34 degrees (according to weather.com), I'm sure it is exceedingly rare to see even very wet snow that won't stick during this time of the year.

Yes, that's true. But keep in mind that we're not talking about a great deal of altitude here. The mountains here are 4-6K feet, and it was snowing at about 2K feet. So in half an hour you could drive from a lush, green rainforest surrounding a bay at sea level to a snowy mountain pass. That doesn't happen most places.
