Can high income earners rent appartments that are labeled "affordable housing", these seem to be the nicest in the listings. Trying to move closer to family and friends on the east side but may not be able to due to my high income.

Do you REALLY want to live in "section 8" housing???...

If you make soooo much money buy a house or rent one.

There are a number of nice complexes in east Anchorage that have "affordable housing" units mixed in the same complex as regular housing. They aren't all Sec 8 ghetto complexes.

You're kidding, rpearso, you actually so cheap that you're considering trying to weasel your way into section 8 housing? What happened, did your plan to leave the country to avoid paying your child support not pan out?

........not to mention huge financial penalties along with serious time in federal prison to knowingly deceive one's way into such a situation illegally &, will add, "immorally". Am nearly 60 years old, a honorably discharged, service-connected, traumatic brain-injured veteran presently working his way through a waiting list for senior/disabled housing & it simply steams me when people even speak of taking advantage of such earned benefits by lying & deceiving their way into affordable housing. One such person directly affected me 2 years ago to the tune of costing me over $2,000 extra rent before getting my assistance & they did make an example of her. Many of us vets earned the privilege of such housing & it exists for other qualified people in need.

That is correct, the nicer apartments in east anchorage have the "affordable housing" label. I am hoping they are mixed income units. Would suck to not be able to move because all the nice places have strings attached in east anchorage. I will call a couple of the places today and see what the deal is. South and South west are nice but its alot of driving to visit friends and family. I would need to keep the same level of ammenities if not upgrade a little (since I will be sacraficing a view most likely) and perhaps save a little money on my rent since I will be living in east anchorage. Depending on what shakes out with the whole "affordable housing" deal there is not too much avalibility of like units that are at the same price point or less, I may just end up continuing to commute.

This is not really a debate forum, I could say alot of things about the military. One thing I will say is my wife was cheating on me with some chode on base and he was also married, there are alot of military members I know who are quite dishonorable. If I had his last name I would have hooked him up. I also did some time in the national guard, I met more schmucks in my short time in the military than the rest of my life combined. There are decent honorable military members but the military has allowed itself to become over run with undesirables and gang members. You dont let thoes sorts in unless your going to send them straight over to some major war to get weeded out so they are not here competing for females, you dont let them gain rank and influance. I am sorry you got burned, I am just looking to be close to family and friends and all of the nice units on appartment finder have an "affordable housing" label. I would never falsify paper work, I simply would not move and just continue to deal with the commute. I never figured moving to east anchorage would be this difficult as I am not going to move some where less nice than where I am now, nor am I going to pay more money for a similar unit in a worse area of town. Gas isent THAT expensive ..... yet.

I am hoping they are mixed income units and I can snag one lagitimatly, we will see.

East Anchorage has nice rental units that do not have low-income requirements.... you just have to be prepared to pay for them, rpearso.
