I live on the east coast now, 22, and will graduate with a Pharmacy Doctorate in 2 years and think I have a shot in Anchorage's job market. I really want to visit and eventually live there out of college.

Apartments, where is a good place to look? if I have a decent income which part of Anchorage should I start? I heard the South side is the nicer part of town, but I am looking on here just to prepare but I wanted to get an idea. How competitive is it to find a nice single apartment? what are some areas of Anchorage I should avoid?

We could give you all kinds of specific information about apartments but a lot can change in 2 years. Anchorage has lots of pocket neighborhoods spread all over the city. 1 block can be great and the next block over could be bad. Generally if you stay out of the Fairview and Mountain View neighborhoods you'll be okay. Come up for a visit and check it out. Maybe over spring break, eh? Still will have plenty of snow on the ground but more daylight then we have now. Good luck!
