Maybe we should change the thread title to "This warm winter really sucks! Bring on the cold!" ?

Or maybe we should be careful what we wish for. :-o

I prayed to the snow gods and also did my cold weather dance, bring it on!
I did see that 2014 was the warmest year on record.. I wonder if this trend will continue long term or if it's a fluke?
I do hope it gets extremely cold and snowy again, if it gets to warm too many people will move here!

The temps have been very tolerable, the lack of precipitation is a great cause for concern. If this continues into the warm months we will suffer a terrible wildfire season, the rivers and lakes will be terribly low and fish will suffer. If we get a prolonged cold snap the frost will penetrate too deep, too many small animals will die affecting the circle of life to the apex. Snow is an important part of the ecology, I hope we get some significant measure of it before it is too late.

All of you (riceme, 6.7, AK76, Musicman) make great points...

The way people were talking when I moved in, I was sorta prepared and expecting a lot more snow by now. And a lot less ice on the roads. It is what it is, and I hope that the lack of snow and warm temps doesn't hurt the animals.

The snow is flying where I am at right now off the Elliot highway, any snow to report in Anchorage? Maybe our snow dances actually worked?

In case people in Anchorage forgot, here is what snow looks like. It is this strange white fluffy substance that falls from the sky

This was mid-September... so it didn't start out bad, but it sure went to hell quickly.

I think we have had less than 2 feet of snow this year. In the
Last 6years we have only had 1 year of normal snowfall.
Are we going to have 2 summers of rain to make up for it?
We need snow to help the river levels so our fuel barges can make it this summer.
