Nice is relative. I know a few people in Homer that are really disappointed by the lack of snow. I am up by Fairbanks and personally not complaining though.

Yeah, aside from general concern about the longer term effects of a warmer climate, this winter HAS been really nice in the eastern interior. We've had good snow cover since October 5th and it's only been down to -20 twice I think. Not even many days below zero. Plus only one very brief warmup above freezing.

I am in agreement with heathen regarding the climate but I would prefer the temperature be around -10*F just because that's still pretty warm and anything above that and the roads get increasingly crappy as the temperature approaches 32*F.

The yukon still has holes in it. I can still see rocks and grass and logs on trails. This winter sucks.

My first winter in Anchorage and even I don't like the temps in the +30F range either. I get exposed to Alaska on a mild winter... I don't know whether that is good or bad only time will tell.

Lack of snow seems to be bumming a lot of my new friends and neighbors out though.
