I do not believe that teachers work "about 180 days a year" to start with. I think it is closer to 160 days a year if that that is actually worked. It is a stretch to claim 8 hours work a day as well. Once you have the curriculum and your outline it is virtual auto pilot.
AVERAGE teacher salary is $64 - $70K/year ... some as high as $94.
Take the middle which is $67,000 / 160 / 7 = $59.82/hr. on the check.
Free health care for entire family ... that cost me for a deluxe plan about $1200/month. Pissed off days no work, sick days, pension (yea I know you think you pay for it but not even close).

What do you think they do on those other 20 days of required instruction?
I think all of your stats are wrong. RN's make more per year than a teacher in Alaska, on average, mostly because they work more hours. Teachers, in most cases, do make more per hour, but definitely not double that of an RN.
