Yep, it's official. We leave Las Vegas on April 3. From Vegas we are headed to Los Angeles to ship the wife's car and after that it's straight up the coast.

I have to be in Anchorage no later than April 14 so we will have some time to enjoy the scenery and stop as needed for the kids (6 and 2 years old).

I can't wait to get back to AK! I will be using our Spot messenger to update our status a couple of times per hour. I will post a web site to track our progress in case anyone is interested.

When you hit Highway 1 north in Canada, make sure you look at this. There are a number of great restaurants along the Fraser Canyon.

Discover the Scenic Fraser Canyon!

Thanks Warpt. I will have to check that out! With the Alaska Air National Guard paying for the move we will be able to enjoy ourselves more than if we had to pay for it!

WOO HOO! Sara Palin is going to be my boss!

When you get to Chetwynd, BC, make sure you stop in the Brookside Inn. They have the best burgers on Highway 1. Been there 4 times at various times of the day. One morning we had the bacon cheeseburgers for breakfast, my parents loved it! From here north, there are two routes, don't take the "short cut" north to Fort St. John, take the highway to Dawson Creek, the official start of the Alaska Highway and get your picture taken at Mile 0.

I have a choice whether to move to Las Vegas or Phoenix. I am a single woman in her 50's. I live in Florida now and spend most of the time indoors because humidity is too much. I like a cool climate not a cold one. My favorite thing to do is hiking. Can anyone tell me the difference between the 2 cities? I'll be working at the airport. Thanks so much!
