I'm hoping for a job at Mott Children's Hospital (at the U of M Medical Center). As a single female in her late 20s, where should I look to rent? I'm thinking 1 bedroom, 700-800 sq ft is what I'm used to. I don't know what the rental market there is like but I was thinking about $800/month?

I've never been to Ann Arbor so I know absolutely nothing of the area. What should I know??? Thanks for any and all responses!

To save a bunch of money, I would look at the inter-campus bus shuttle stops. The bus is free for whoever wants to ride it and it goes around the medical campus and a few stops at different class buildings. You can find the bus route here: U of M Magic Bus - Map View Not only does it save you gas money, but if you want to park anywhere within a 2 mile radius, you will need a parking pass that runs somewhere from 100-1000/month. Granted the super expensive passes are for physicians and high level administrators.

That also shows a map of the immediate area so you can narrow your search down.

More than that though, I have no idea. I live 30 minutes/miles away and only come here to work. You could also check out some related threads on here, the hospital is a, if not the, biggest employer in the city and I've seen threads about apartment hunting around here before.

$800 for a 1 bedroom in that neck of the woods is a bit optimistic. Rents near campus and the hospital run higher than that. As you move farther out, rents go down a little, but it's a student saturated market and therefore rents are high all over town (overpriced.....IMO). Good luck!
