I would not drink tap water in Phoenix. If you were to see the hard deposits it leaves on the outlets of faucets, or on the cookware you use to boil tap water in, I'm sure you'd think twice about drinking it, when you think about that stuff building up on your insides.

If you're going to drink water out of the tap, make sure it has a water purification system attached to it, otherwise you'd be better off getting your drinking water from water stores. We have plenty of them in Phoenix and they only charge .25 cents to fill up your own gallon-sized containers.

Tap water is for general purposes, drinking water should be from a purification system. I’m not in favor of water stores for .25 cents but it’s better then nothing. Stay away from those outside machines that fill 5 gal bottles.
They may not service the filtering system as well as they should.http://www.airamericaplace.com/boards/style_emoticons/default/spit.gif (broken link)

This was on the news here a week or so ago:
Quote:
Colorado Springs Utilities’ water ranked in the top five in a nationwide taste test at the U.S. Conference of Mayors’ 75th annual meeting in Los Angeles earlier this month.
St. Louis took the top prize in a contest of 93 cities.

The blind taste test was performed by the nation’s mayors over the course of three days. Colorado Springs outranked cities such as Arvada; Beverly Hills, Calif.; Dubuque, Iowa; Green Bay, Wis.; and Tallahassee, Fla.

A majority of Springs Utilities’ water comes from snowmelt high in the Rocky Mountains and is stored in 25 reservoirs. Approximately 360 water quality tests are conducted each month. Springs Utilities provides water that meets or exceeds all state and federal drinking water standards.

Ok, so is this in AZ, or in CO?
Obviously my town was not represented, we have pure underground spring water, never tasted anything like it~
But thats in OR. and I'm interested in AZ.

We will eventually retire to AZ, althought weather is important, amoung other issues.... water means a great deal to us.

When we moved to Chandler in 2000 the water tasted
pretty bad.

Sometime in 2005 (give or take) I tried the water and it
tasted fine. I don't know what they did.

We used an RO filter for drinking, cooking, coffee.

Colorado Springs water is definitely great. We get most of our water from the mountains, and it has a very crisp, clean, very light taste. Almost every other place's water seems to me to have other taste that shouldn't be there.
