OK. I reread it. My comment stands. Less job opportunity in Kingman.

Don't know when you last checked the job market in Bend but it is really sad and as far as I'm concerned it's been that way since I moved here 10 years ago. I know I can't compete with East Coast salaries but just want a living wage.

I think I've narrowed down when I am coming to visit which will be mid-March. Any recommendations for hotel?

Kingman probably has more hotels per capita than any other town on earth. Name any chain and they're probably there. Motel 6, Days Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Best Western, Super 8, Rodeway, Hampton, and many, many more. Motel 6 should do you fine, and is usually under $40/night. The one on Andy Devine is usually cheaper than the one on Beale St.

I would say the Hampton also, it is on Stockton Hill Rd. But like K dog advised we have a lot of motel hotels to choose from.

I agree, the Hampton is probably the best if it's in your budget.

OK....guess hotel won't be a problem, thanks. If it's possible to answer this question, where would you suggest I visit as far as housing (both apartment initially then home), where most businesses are located (though have been checking the Daily Miner regularly), and just get a sense of what life in Kingman would be like. I know that's pretty open-ended but if you were to refer Kingman to a good friend out of state, where would you send them?

Also, any suggestions for car rental out of Las Vegas?

Thanks as always.

Apartments I am not sure about but off of Western and Beverly area are a few but don't know much about em but they are close to Hospital. Then housing (homes) that coould bring you on out towards Camelback area Jaggerson and Stockton Hill on out Hualapai mtn road out off of Eastern and Southern lots out there but depends on what you are looking for in housing.

I would radiate out from Stockton Hill road East and west a half mile in each direction from Kino on up Hualapai Mtn Rd.

Car rentals use a AAA card at some to get a better rate and also don't rent from the airport because they charge a lot more fee's. Budget or Hertz etc. should have off site rentals close by. just not as convenient as a airport rental but sometimes is worth effort.

Thanks Rambrush for all the details. I guess the next thing I better do is get a Kingman map! As far as homes go, I'd be looking for a small house, 2 - 3 bedrooms, possibly 2 baths. I do not want to be right on top of my neighbors (less than 10') and would enjoy a large back yard because I would like room for multiple raised garden beds. Also would want city sewer, water and all the other amenities. If you can suggest areas that include several of these criteria that would be great.

Also good info on the car rentals. I didn't realize that airport rentals are more expensive.

Many thanks again.

My area fits the bill except for the sewer we are on septic out here. Hopefully KDOG will chime in and advise on where he used to live but believe that area is on city sewer.
Airport fees/taxes are what makes those rentals pricey at times.
