I have been through the Wilcox area as a tourist about 5 years ago. Now I am thinking about settling somewhere. Anybody have any comments?

Default wilcox

Hi. I was there last winter. It has a nice golf course, housing is reasonable. As far as I know it is quite safe,

I wouldn't move to Cochise County unless I were retired -- not a good place to look for work. If I were to move to Cochise, I'd look at areas around Sierra Vista rather than Willcox. There are also some nice places south of Benson in Pima Co., and in Santa Cruz Co., as well.

Yep, agreeing with Steve97415 and scottyc:
Safe? relatively so as is any AZ border town of that size.
Jobs? minimum wage mostly, so commuting somewhere else is just about guaranteed if you're a working 'joe' like most of us.
Good luck in your search & welcome to Southern Arizona!

I lived in Willcox a few years back and it isn't a bad place, depending on what you're looking for. If you like solitude and beauty, it's a great place, and it's not far from the big city in case you did want to travel there (Tucson is 75 highway miles away), and other medium sized towns are closer. It's much cooler than Phoenix and Tucson in the summer, but the winters can be cold! Reasonable employment can be found depending on your skills. There is a hospital, telecom company, co-op, DMV, post office, banks, etc. that offer salaries above minimum wage. If you like a simple way of life that's within driving range of full-scale civilization, it's a great place to stay!
