Bullhead City might be a good choice. You have the Colorado River running between it and Laughlin, NV, and there is also a Malwart Supercenter in town. However, its population is a tad more than what you're looking for.

Globe-Miami fits the population, Wal-mart, & climate you're looking for. Can't speak for jobs, friendliness toward dogs, or how many low-cost real estate opportunities are there (or any town with that low a population).

I would recommend slowing down your moving plans, doing more research and making a visit to check out areas on your list. Making a "quick move to AZ", or anywhere for that matter, may land you somewhere you don't want to be.

Yeah I'd really do some more research like JAinAZ said. Plus do you really want to move right in the middle of Winter? This Winter? Might be better to just take a trip out and look around a bit. If money is tight you can cut down on the cost by flying into Vegas and then driving through Bullhead City, then on to all the "rim" towns in Northern Arizona (Prescott, Sedona, Flagstaff, Payson, Snow Flake, Bigsbee, then down onto though Globe and taking the back route to Tuscon, then swinging up through Phoenix on your way out. Lots of other little towns on the way. I'm in the Prescott area and love it, you still get the four seasons unlike Tempe but the Winter weather is not extreme at all and the summers aren't quite as hot as down in the Phoenix metro area. We get a few snow days per Winter month but it mostly melts in a few hours once the sun comes up. The problem with all areas outside of Phoenix is economic, finding a job might be tough, at least one that pays anything anyway. I'd focus on blasting out resumes as well, where you land might be determined by where you can get a job.

what kind of jobs are you looking for? I think the jobs in the small communities will be tough.

Why the urgency to move, and to small towns where jobs will be much harder to find? I have to ask why AZ- it sounds like you don't have relatives or friends here to help you make this transition. I think you need to slow down this plan.

My reasons for moving are personal ..my small family and myself don't have family or friends anywhere in a position to help with moving.we enjoy smaller town living over larger cities..i do realize jobs are harder to find but we all work and help each other..i just thought getting some info from people familiar with the area would help us narrow down our search ..

Right now the Job market here in Safford is actually pretty good, because of the mines there are plenty of jobs, (and some decent paying ones too) available. What you might have a hard them finding is rentals. They are here but they go fast. I am seriously considering buying another, bigger place and renting my place out.

Just thinking about it.
