Just a quick question for clarity, cause I get confused.
In Arizona, you guys don't "spring forward" am I right? So this way the summers evenings get lighter naturally, and you don't wake up in the dark? Do I have this right?

Just curious... I'm still adjusting to the hour of sleep lost!

Podo I have lived in and visited AZ and yes there is no DST. Arizona has it right! Early sunrises in the summer and not so late sunsets in the summer evenings. I wish we had that.

No spring forward?
Nope! Not since the '70's when, thankfully, Arizona reversed it!

I hear AZ does this because we dont want the extra hour of scorching daylight in the summer. Not sure how true that is, but I believe it was probably at least part reason why we dont observe DST. I do miss the longer summer days of the Midwest. Having some minimal light even past 9PM was awesome.

Saying on standard time all year long really works better here in AZ. People that work outside can start work earlier before it gets too hot (the sun comes up at 5:00a) and it gets dark around 8:00p so it starts to cool down a little once the sun goes down. If we had DST, the sun would be up past 9:00p and it would still be too hot to enjoy the evenings.

We don't need another hour of scorching daylight; the summer nights do the job just fine.

I am glad we don't have DST; when I lived in states that had it, I was always late or early on spring-forward and fall-back days; for some reason I never got the memo.

I think parts of Arizona do observed day light savings, spring forward. Up in Tuba City past Flagstaff, if I'm not mistaken.

The Navajo Nation observes DST because it spans three states.

Unless you live on/in the Navajo Nation - it uses DST.
