I don't think you are going to see what you describe in your first post in most places in AZ. Meth is a problem all over the country, but it is not like it is going to affect your life in any way in most places you would live. I don't think the fact that we have medical marijuana here is going to impact your quality of life, either.

If that's what you are getting from the negative-leaning posts on this thread, you are overreacting to them. You are not going to be "smelling it all the time" and odds are you are not going to have a meth lab next door. Police here also don't have a "do nothing" attitude about meth labs here in AZ.

I would stick to the larger cities even in the rural counties, if that's your preference over the urban areas, although I see you also mentioned Phoenix-Cave Creek-Fountain Hills. Better law enforcement there, and more neighborhood oversight. Or, your choices in Phoenix would work out, as well.
