Am I crazy? I did want to visit when the weather wasn't the greatest to see if it's a place I want to live. I'll be checking out Huachuca City & Sierra Vista.

After that it's on to Tennessee, where I'll visit my brother & his family.

Between the two I hope to find my forever home.

Right now it's 89°& totally miserable here. Do not even want to go outside.

Hmmm, we're having severe thunderstorms right now. Hope it's better tomorrow morning or I may have to postpone my trip for a day.

Huachuca City and Sierra Vista are not too bad temperature wise right now. The monsoon induced thunderstorm have kicked in for much of eastern and central Arizona, including Sierra Vista. If there was a good time during the summer to visit AZ, you picked it. Safe travels and welcome to Arizona!

3rd try to post update. I drove 532 miles & am in Thedford, NE resting up for tomorrow's drive.

It's been pretty boring so far. Weird weather through South Dakota, miles & miles of brown grass in Nebraska so far. Lots of cattle farms though.

Thanks. A lot of people think I'm crazy for coming there this time of year. Good to know this is a good time.

Going through South Dakota was not so good. There were storms in the beginning & once I got past them it was hot, muggy & stifling.

Hope to get at least to New Mexico tomorrow. Still have 1100 miles so will probably take me 2 more days.

The Cube is driving amazingly. So far I've only spent $55 in gas & that's only cause I'm not letting it get below 100 miles to -0- before I fill up. It's still got 200+ to go now.

How's your back holding up with all that sitting? I'm contemplating a trip from the Sacramento area to Tucson which is just under 900 miles. I'm trying to estimate how long it will take in terms of how many rest stops I'll need to make to walk around and unkink. My back problems aren't as severe as yours but sitting for long periods can get to me.

I think you're wise to check it out now. I'm considering next month for that reason. I'd like to visit when the weather is active rather than in Fall or Spring, which is when I've gone in the past.

That's why I chose the Cube. It's the most comfortable car I've ever driven. I did take ibuprophen (however you spell it) before I started out & again tonight. So far, good.

All through South Dakota, until the last stretch, the rest stops were miles & miles apart & often they were closed. You shouldn't have that problem though.
