Default Arizona Automobile Hobbyist Council

Save the Date for the next Arizona Automobile Hobbyist Council meeting.
[CENTER]We have been contacted by a lot of Hobbyists around the State concerning the new State imposed $32 Safety Fee being tacked on everyone’s registration. Our Legislative Liaison, Dan, has done research on the Bill that the Gov. signed and we have a lot of questions. The Bill that went thru sessions was to go into effect on 12/31/2019. Did the ADOT jump the gun by 13 months by tacking it on this month? This is just one of many questions we have about this fee. Please attend the meeting on January 8th at 7pm to find out more and to help us figure out our next steps about this fee. We have a few options, but would like more input from the Hobby.

Meeting is on Jan. 8th at 7pm, doors open at 6pm
1300 S. Litchfield Rd.
Goodyear

Does the "Arizona Automobile Hobbyist Council" care about any other taxes and fees, or just the one that they have to pay?

It's a Fee / Tax ALL HAVE TO PAY
Some Allot More.
This letter I have seen on line explains.

Doug Ducey-Governer
Karen Fann-Senator
Noel Campbell-Representative
David Stringer-Representative

I am writing regarding the new $32 per vehicle registration fee. I do not believe the impact this fee will have on people who have multiple vehicles that are very rarely (if ever) driven was taken into consideration. Car collectors usually have their vehicles on limited use collector car policies and this should be taken into consideration and excluded from this new fee.
Additionally, the vehicles that car hobbyist and collectors have for the most part have a place in history and are ususally shown at car shows and children ask why the car has 3 pedals on the floor (never saw a clutch) and what is the thing on the door with a knob (the window roller), never have seen a manual window before. These vehicles are a teaching tool and part of history, the owners are not members of the rich and famous and usually older demographics on a limited income, they put their DNA (blood, sweat and tears) into these vehicles and enjoy showing them. AZ is (was) a mecca of car collections and car collectors as seen by the January collector car auctions.
I recently met someone who was paying $10 per year registration for a travel trailer and now has to pay $42, again this is a trailer that is hardly used, also should have some consideration.
The other day I read an article in the paper about the population growth in AZ, of people moving here from other states, how about a fee for the new residents that are using our infrastructure and have not paid into it in the past. I am sure this and other ways to support Public Safety are very possible.
Thank you for your consideration,

That letter won’t go anywhere because it’s basic and adds nothing to the conversation save for a very small sliver of the population who are already well represented

Got it. Instead of a fee you have to pay, you want new residents to pay instead.

The higher taxes are result of people wanting more government intrusion into their lives and the increasing influence of government employee unions. These do not come without cost. Did you know that some Fire departments respond to calls from persons that lock themselves out of their vehicles? It's true.

The public service (Fire and Police) unions have been handed the golden retirement by the ignorant voters and the teachers saw this and want their share of the pie. The $32 tax per vehicle increase was promoted by supporters of these sweet deals because of the pressure to correct the voter's mistake. People will vote for anything if it's "for the children" or public safety.
The only remaining remnants of the middle class will be vested in the government employees. The remainder of us in the powerless masses will be SOL. That's the way it's always been and will always be.

The country is undergoing a dramatic generational change and that historically results in a cultural and opinion shift (The fourth turning).
It's inevitable.
The USA is going to experiment with socialism and this will result in a new set of winners and losers. Pure socialism will not work. It hasn't worked in the past and it never will. If we were all little robots and responded identically to stimuli, it might work but we're not little robots.
The winners will be probably be the usual suspects. They will be comprised of the government bureaucracy, individuals, organizations and corporations that can buy influence or adapt to the changing political environment. The absolute insane response to the election of Trump and most recent election results here in Arizona just confirms my opinion. Nothing has really changed under Trump. His election just resulted in delaying the inevitable.

Been to Washington. You have to pay to park on the roadside. I know. Got a warning for stopping and admiring the view without a permit.
