I was around Seligman county on the I-40 and ended up going 31 MPH over the speed limit. I was going 106 on a 75 zone. I have looked at past threads and it does say to fight the charge (especially since it is a criminal complaint). However, I am from CA and outside of driving here to fight the ticket, it would be quite difficult.

Any tips for good lawyers? Or just general advice?

Most of the threads here about fighting tickets are about photo radar citations. Fighting a criminal speeding ticket is a whole other animal. 106 in a 75? Pay it, and learn a lesson.

I want to know if I should go to the court now to see if they can give me a civil crime and let me go to the driving school? If not, I will not plead guilty and hire a lawyer to represent me. Do you think this is okay? thank you very much

Lawyer fee will probably cost you a lot more than the fine. Lawyers I know won't take less than $5.000 to do a case.
Violation code 28-701A
AZ 21 MPH or over must appear in Court or complete Defensive Driving School, if eligible.

This lawyer's link says that with their [expensive] help. they may be able to plead it down to a civil violation. It will cost more than the fine and probably the increase in your insurance for three years, too. Whether you can get that kind of result by throwing yourself on the mercy of the court, I don't know.

Fight it with everything you've got.

You have every right to drive 100 mph.

I agree, it's going to cost you a lot more than just the fine if you fight it. Pay the fine, learn your lesson. Attorney is going to be expensive, court fees and apparently your travel expenses. Pay it and be glad they didn't suspend your license and take you to jail.

you "ended up" going 106 mph?......my "general advice" is to man up and take the punishment.......and to think about your actions on a public road used by others......

Completely agree. 106 mph is extremely dangerous. Then again, every time I go to California I'm reminded of how reckless the drivers are there between randomly cutting people off and insane speeding.
