Well let's see. We elected a gay female democrat last time so I would say the answer must be no?
In a state well known for being tried and true Republican?
And it appears to me that unless Mark blows it he will blow McSally away if she tries the same tactics and BS she tried when she lost to the Democrat.

What does her gender and sexual orientation have to do with anything at all?

I took keninaz's statement to mean that conservative red Arizona elected someone who is the exact opposite of conservative and Republican. That maybe AZ voters are smarter and more open minded about candidates than just the letter behind their name.

Because of course there could not possibly be any gay conservative Republicans.

Log Cabin Republicans is the nation’s original and largest organization representing LGBT conservatives and straight allies who support fairness, freedom, and equality for all Americans. Log Cabin Republicans has state and local chapters nationwide, full-time staff in Washington, DC, a federal political action committee, and state political action committees.

Google Blaire White, conservative transgender YouTuber. Has a lot of great videos.

Hate to tell you this, but AZ has been sliding to purple for quite a while now.

Yep. Who voted for this partisan politician "liar liar pants on fire" idiot?!? What a massive kiss-a_ss! This is the same guy where six of his nine siblings spoke out against their brother. Paul Gosar doesn't think for himself. His siblings were spot on.

It wouldn't be a first, though it's been awhile.

It hasn't happened since Ernest McFarland left office in January 1953 after losing a reelection bid. At that point, Arizona had had exclusively Democratic Senators since statehood, with the exception of a Republican serving one term in the 1920s.

Arizona had two Republican Senators for the first time in 1969, and those two seats have trended Republican since, with the exceptions of Dennis DeConcini's three terms (1977-1995) and now Kyrsten Sinema.

I could honestly see Mark Kelly winning in 2020, if he avoids any talk on gun control until after the election.
