Since I hope to be moving from here in the next month I thought id give my thoughts on Havasu in general after being here since November. Just my opinions that maybe people looking to move here might find interesting. Im sure many people love the place.

The lake is pretty and Sara Park is gorgeous. Thats just about where the positives end.

I think Havasu is a terrible place to live. Of course theres the heat but some people just seem to do better with that in general. I cant believe people live in heat like this and its considered a mild summer. I moved to AZ for the heat, but I know now I went way too far in this direction lol. Id never consider living in the desert climate again full time. Winter here was enjoyable temp wise.

The worst things to me are the congestion at all times of the year and the fact that its the bro capital of the world. Winter months have all the snowbirds doubling the population. But congestion doesnt really go down in the summer. If anything Friday, Saturday and Sunday are worse. And its all the kinds of people you wouldnt want to be around. A mixture of the worst people Cali has to offer, punk kids and the biggest redneck brodozer drivers from other parts around. Its their playground and you are just in their way. Prepare to be tailgated most of the time by a lifted truck.

Ive never really seen a town planned so poorly. It has no rhyme or reason for how any roads are laid out. The highway that goes through town has I think 142 red lights which makes it just terrible to get anywere. Especially if you live on the South side. The smell of a sewer system thats way over capacity is in the air almost daily as you get closer to the island and lake. Unless you really like Walmart, good luck with stores.

Luckily I have visited Flag, Prescott and Sedona before coming here so I know AZ has way more to offer then this.

Yea the plan is to get up to Prescott area. Thats the best part of the state up that way for me. Really anything west of Prescott can be sold to CA and NV.

Mr Showtime, that's a great review and I picked up some new terms to use in the future. Thanks for that.

I haven't been there in over a decade but I can't imagine that the number of summer partiers and boat accidents waiting to happen has gone down any. Californians with more money than brains sure can mess up a good thing.

Where else have you lived for comparison?

Most of what you said are things well known about Havasu so that should not have come as a surprise. If you like to get drunk and party on a boat, that's about all there is to do in Havasu.

I do think your plan to go to a higher altitude is a good one, I prefer above 4000' on Arizona for a milder climate and more vegetation....for Snowbirds, lower elevation is good.

I've lived there since 1981. Rotary Park is also very nice. The roads are set up for maximum views for the most homes.

Also, is this just a west coast thing in general or another Havasu flaw......

Nobody is in a rush to do anything. Ive ran into this from multiple people and multiple companies. Simply having someone stick to a time frame they set seems like a impossible feat. Theres a complete lack of care for anyone elses time.

Not having trouble finding local help these days within a reasonable amount of time.

I recall talk of moving the county seat to LHC years ago. I would probably pick Laughlin if I was moving to that Hellhole area.

It really is just a junk area of the country in general. Parker, kingman, bullhead, laughlin, needles. Once you get west of Prescott it takes a long time to get somewhere you wanna be.
