Driver's Licenses are prorated based on your age. Here's a link to the website that explains it. http://www.azdot.gov/mvd/faqs/script...asp?section=dl

License Plate fees are based on the value of the vehicle. My folks bought a brand new motor home back in the early 80s to the tune of $40K. The annual license plate fees back then were just over a $1,000 a year. We don't have toll-roads here. Now you can save by purchasing 2 years at a time. You have options.

When I first moved here last summer I had out of state personalized plates and I live in a small town. I ran out and got new plates immediately on an 88 Honda and a 90 4Runner. Cost me $175 for both with title fees, and 2 years registration on the Toyota.

I was going to get a driver's license but kept putting it off. Now that I don't plan on staying here, that won't happen.

My insurance company (USAA) did not require an Arizona license when I transferred here.

AZ registration vehicle license taxes (VLT) are high but in general property taxes are low. Oregon and NY for example are the opposite. If you move here from a state that has low plate fees and decide you don't want to pay Arizona's, keep in mind that the fine for a resident with out of state tags is over $550.00.

Ok...like my tags, which come up for renewal in March are about $45 for the year...my insurance on my 20004Runner is $110/month...I'm just wondering if it will be astronomical in Phoenix...I don't know where I'd be living yet, I don't have a job yet there....still in Florida, but I work in property managment onsite Asst. Property manager and hoping to work where I live! LOL...

I read on the forum somewhere that the tags here are about 2% of the worth of your car. I did the math and it comes out right on all of my cars.

So, if your truck is worth $20,000 your tags would be around $400. But that's just an estimate.

I think they use retail or private party for calculations, not wholesale. Try KKB . com.

Oh, I noticed you typed 2000- 4 runner, I thought it was a 2004. It's about $8-10k? So you're looking around $200 for tages, maybe less?

That's per year, but it will go down each year as the value of your truck goes down.
