I'm considering moving to AZ because of allergies. I'm in KY and allergic to every tree and grass we have here. I've heard that will be better in AZ. I want to be in the desert part, maybe Mountain View? Easily maintained. NO COLD WEATHER!!! I was thinking Phoenix south and north of Tucson. That was suggested because of being north of the border for safety reasons???? I need a place that is safe, as I'll be a single, retired female. Least cost of living, healthcare access, general places of convenience. Looking for a nice, safe, fun place as I'm retired but not old. Please offer advise and opinions, I'm open to all. However I am a Republican and if that makes a difference in location please advise. Thank you.

That’s a really bad reason to move. My allergies are much worse in Phoenix than they ever were back East. You could get here and discover that your allergies are actually miserable - and then what?

Yes, I agree. You should come here during allergy season (here it's about 9 months) and see if it affects you. There are so many different plants here that people can be allergic too. All the allergists have thriving businesses.

Have you checked the weather forecast? It will be in the 30s tonight. That doesn’t fit your requirement of “NO COLD WEATHER!!!”

Maybe you need a better allergist in KY?

I've met a lot of people that moved here in the 90's because of better air, no allergies. Not sure that still holds today. As others mentioned you should visit here first to see how you react to the air. It is indeed warmer here than KY. Lows at night are usually in the 40's, sometimes dip into the 30's. But we also have larger temp ranges with highs in the 70's during winter days.

Active retirees tend to gravitate to Scottsdale, Fountain Hills, perhaps also northwest areas like Glendale and Peoria.

My son had horrendous allergies on the East Coast and we don't even need to see an allergist for him here.

I plan to visit in September. How's the allergies then? 30-40 at night but 70's in the day, I could handle. That's fire pit weather with friends or a glass of wine and a good book by the fireplace. Snow and ice in the teens, frozen water for the animals or enough rain for mud to your ears is old.

Late September will be a good time to visit and the fire pit with friends and wine is doable. However, snow and ice in the teens and frozen water for the animals and...what's that?...rain? All of that may not be possible unless you're in Flag, Pinetop, Show low or one of the other mountain towns and we get some precipitation.
