I have been thinking for a long time to move to Arizona and am now not going to do it. I'm in Florida and am going to stay here until I can find a place better.

Here's why:

1. HOAs. Seems like the greater Phoenix area have been buffalo'd by HOA groups. I don't like HOAs, I don't like HOAs, I don't like HOAs!!! Period!! and won't ever live in one.

2. High auto insurance costs. Up to 4 times what it costs in Florida.

3. Speeding Harassment via Speeding Cameras and Speed traps.

4. Matchbox Communities. I'm buying a 1600 square foot house on 5 wooded acres in Florida for 120k. Couldn't find anything like that in Phoenix.

So, for now, I'm saving a visit to Phoenix for just that, a visit. I think the quality of life in Phoenix is not what I thought.

Sounds like this belongs in the Phoenix forum. Arizona is a mighty big state, of which Phoenix is only a tiny geographical (but large population) portion. Northern Arizona for example will have none of the downsides that you list. Of course, it may not have any work in your chosen occupation either. But it is a great place to live.

Cool, well let's turn this around. Please list any areas which do not have the problems listed above.

Thanks,

BBJBW

Every place that's not in the greater Phoenix area. You can start with the town under my location. If you think I'm going to name every other town in Arizona, you're sadly mistaken.

What did you expect with that reply? Did you really think I was asking you to list every city in Arizona that wasn't Phoenix? Did it happen to occur to you that ppl living in Tucan or other locations might have an opinion? I appreciate your reply and what ever you have offered up till now. Do what you want.

Thanks,

There are plenty of others who want your seat. BTW, I didn't comment on the insurance thing in another post because insurance costs vary so much by personal circumstances. But I insure three cars and a home for less than the $2000 that someone told you insurance costs for one car. I don't think I would make a life decision based on info I got on CityData. It's a place to gather opinions, mostly, and not facts.

Oh, I just reread what I wrote and understand KDog's response.. opps.

Sorry Kdog.

What I meant to say was "anyone else want to list where they would not have these problems in Arizona.

BB

Outside of insurance, there's still the HOA and Matchbox house issues.
