Steve-o: I have to say I'm mildly impressed! No, I didn't know there are scorpions in England. I looked them up and see they are fairly harmless. Still, pretty cool. Thanks.

Very interesting, Steve-o! At least you've given us "Northerners" another good reason to NOT go to London, Kent or Essex, LOL! Scorpions in Arizona I can deal with, but in England? That's just a bit too weird to even contemplate.

Like Dazgaz I checked it out on the internet and will now have some fun telling my best friend about this, since she is originally from London, where her family still reside, LOL!

Dazgaz, Cyanna and eu2us, glad you enjoyed!

Here are some pics of my English scorpion that I took last weekend. Theyre very harmless and very small, so thats why I have no qualms about handling them. Here you go!

I must say I do feel better after this thread. I feel like I took a course on scorpions! If we do decide to move, which I really hope to do so, I will definitely be checking my bed before hopping in each night!!

Steve-o

Good pic’s of the little guy. However I tried to think about “what useful purpose” the scorpions have in life? Why are they here? It finally came to me after reading about the thread of “cockroaches” in Scottsdale, scorpions eat other bugs; now if we can move all the scorpions to the east side of town Scottsdale’s roach problems would go down in population a little each month.

Just found my first one tonight, he's a goner now, on the kitchen wall. About 2 inches long. I've just been waiting for one, they always come out about this time of year. We built this home 3 years ago and always have about 10 a year. Before that we lived in same general area and had 1-2 in 13 years. I guess doing all the digging stirred them up. I don't like them but they wouldn't make me not move here.

AksarbeN, youre correct. Scorpions are here to keep the insect population under control. They LOVE to eat cockroaches, who spread disease and are a bigger cause for concern than the scorpions themselves. Not only that, but theyve been spotted eating bees, centipedes, small tarantulas, black widows, other assorted spiders, etc. Its important not to kill them, as they play a vital role just as much as any other animal on earth. ;-)

Also, I just figured out your user name. LOL Im a big hockey fan and kinda like the Omaha Ak-sar-ben Knights. I didnt put 2 and 2 together to figure out your name until now. haha DUH! haha

Steve, you're doing it again. STOP IT!

The Pest Control Guy is here to keep insects under control. Why are you trying to take away his livelihood? This could easily spin out of control into another 'illegal alien' type of debate . Geez, more American jobs diappearing because of cheap, unskilled labor.
