None taken. But I've lived here over 23 years now, tired of it. And my heart has never been in this climate/landscape.
Winters? compared to the midwest we've NO winters! Snow maybe twice a year, temps in the teens a few nights.....that's a mild fall to most midwestern folk.

Came from PA at age of 9. Moved to other states later on my own, ( New Mexico, Oregon, Nevada) I ended up back here.

I hate the heat, but the the cold always makes me sick. I do not get pnemonia here so here I stay. I miss green myself. I miss rain. I do not miss snow. Would be nice if we got the rain with the monsoon this year.

I will probably stay here. Albuquerque beats it here weather wise, but the crime rate there was just too much and we came back here.

I also do not miss freezing toes that you can not get warm even in front of the fire! LOL

I am still attempting to move back west. Hey, you could be stuck in this miserable and humid flat hell hole called FL. I'm so sick of rain, dampness and the ugly surroundings. Hey, I'll trade you--you can have the green here along with the mold and bugs and occasional tornado/hurricane. I have lived in CA, CO, MA, MD, et al and this is the most depressing place that I have ever lived. The cold days here in winter can also be damp. Personally, the only place that I care to live in the SE US would be the mountains. Florida sucks!!

And compared to Flagstaff, the Midwest has NO winters.

Puhleeze.... teens in Fall? It CAN gets that cold on the coldest winter nights, thats about it. We only get a handful of snows here for a total of roughly 36" of snow, and Im pretty far north. Heck, areas of the West get that amount of snow OVERNIGHT. It takes us 3-4 months to get that. Lets not overexaggerate here, shall we?

Steve0 I was referring to Cochise county where I live now. I'm about 300 miles from Flag. Lived in Flag in 2000/01. Here in Sierra Vista we get the weather I referred to, not Flag. Have a cup of coffee on me, and pass the sweet n low please.

I'm from northern Illinois ... but I lived in Phoenix for about 4 years. NEVER again!! Some parts of Arizona are beautiful. Phoenix is NOT one of them. From my perspective, it was ugly. It's more a giant sprawling strip mall than a city (except for a few blocks of downtown). And people who think 360 days of blue skies would be nice ... I beg to differ. It was like living in a fishbowl. I swear to God watching the weather report one day the newsperson pointed at an image of the sky and said, "These here are clouds".

Oh, and the people I came across regularly were meaner than they are in Chicago! I used to wonder if the sun had baked them stupid.

To further that, one day at work a customer pointedly said to me, "You're not from here, are you?" To which I asked, "You're right! How'd you know?" He said, "Because you are nice." That person had been from Alaska.

I also loathe the heat, so I know that probably helped taint my opinion. And when I first moved out there, we had a swamp cooler in our apartment that broke. This was in June. There was no escape from the heat (except for going to the movies, grocery store, etc). At home, the floor was hot, the walls were hot, the sheets were hot, the couch was hot, etc. I used to sit on the floor in front of a fan and flick water at myself from a cup. I think I even used to lay in the bath tub because the tub itself wasn't as hot as the rest of our home.

<<Shudders at the memory>>

/End Rant
