I agree: South Florida is a hellhole when compared to Austin, Dallas, Houston, Phoenix, San Antonio, etc.

Even though Tucson is not far from the U.S.-Mexican border and there are tons of Mexican-Americans, migrant workers, and illegal immigrants residing there, it had less of a Third World vibe than most of Miami-Dade County and parts of Broward County, IMO. Maybe it's because the nicer suburbs of Tucson are father removed from the dusty, crime-ridden neighborhoods of the principal city; maybe it's because the people in Southern Arizona are much friendlier and more polite than people in South Florida; or maybe it's because most of the people in Southern Arizona speak English. I'm not quite sure.

Arizona has a much nicer, more relaxed atmosphere and less of that God-awful pedophile/ghetto thug/redneck/Oy vey vibe that's so dominant in Florida. Get me out of here.

It's real: Attack of the giant African land snails in Florida

TIME[/CENTER]

(CNN) -- Florida, already threatened with sinkholes, now has a new terror: rat-sized, tire-puncturing snails.
Sounding like something out of a 1950s B-movie, these giant African land snails eat their way through some surprising stuff, including stucco, plastic recycling bins, signs and more than 500 species of plants, says the Florida Department of Agriculture.
Their calcium shells bear pointy edges that are sharp enough to blow out tires of vehicles that run over them.
Agriculture Department spokeswoman Denise Feiber says the menacing creatures also carry a human parasite called rat lungworm, which is a form of meningitis and potentially deadly

If you need to ask, please go to Florida. I may have been the last white person born in Dade County....JFK was President.
