Hey out there....

I'm considering relocating to Yuma, AZ from Northern California for an upcoming job opportunity. Does anyone have any information on this city? Also, I'm African-American and pretty much have accepted that I would have to branch out a little for more diversified activities on occasion as well obtaining my hair care maintenance. My college age daughter will be accompanying me as well. However, I'm not too worried for her. I'm sure she will make most of her friends in her new college. We're both pretty friendly people and are well liked in our current environment. Can anyone share experiences in the town or from neighboring towns???

Default Relocating to Yuma, AZ

Thank you so much for the information and insite...If I relocate to Yuma I will already have a job in place...and thank goodness my daughter is in college and wont have to worry about too much on the onset...It looks like we will have to branch out for additional excitement...I'm hoping we that we don't run into too many snags along the way...I will probably be working all the time based on my upcoming position...

I didn't enjoy Yuma. It was hard for a single female living there. Just not a lot of opportunities for single people unless like you like old bars. Although your daughter is college which might help, but I don't know much about the college. I have worked with some African-americans who have to go all the way to San Diego to for hair care. There are some in Yuma who are living in near Third World living conditions. I had some of these children in the classroom so I do know this is true. It is probably due to the close proximity to the border.

Positives:
1) Algodones Casino
2) Algodones Sand Dunes
3) Cheap Dentistry 15 minutes away in Algodones MX
4) 2 1/2 Hours from SD

Notice none of this involves city proper ?
