What you can do to keep them away is keep their food source away (rats, mice, etc) by removing trash, keeping your lawn free of clutter, etc. Snakes generally do not come into homes, but many people have had them in their garages. Just watch where you walk and reach, etc, and youll be fine.

When we moved out here, our neighbor told us to buy some snake repellent. The stuff we got is "Snake-a-way". It's granules that you shake around the outside of your house. It smells awful - I think it's made of coyote urine. For whatever it's worth, we haven't had any snakes around our house, but that could be purely coincidence.

We're not in the city and I have seen a snake or two around while walking our dog, but they haven't come in our house (at least that I've found).

Default Mothballs and snakes

Hi.. We have heard if you use mothballs or the mothball crystals around your home, it keeps snakes away.. is this true? What about using a pest control company on a regular/monthly basis for spiders and other such creatures? Is having a garden or more vegetation in backyard bring more chances of spiders. snakes, and such? What about grass, or having a pool in backyard? Thanks!
