Anyone who marches in a protest should have to produce proof of voting first.

If you don't want to exercise the freedom to vote, you should have your freedom to protest taken away.

Many city governments have public input meetings before taking action.
Yet people don't show up , but want to protest after the fact.

Sorry, you had your chance.
Too late now !

that is a great requirement. I bet you wouldn't see 1/2 as many on the front lines or anywhere else for that matter.

DC; the point is: some are so sure all the marchers are politically active, thus they are voters: this would clear it up once and for all. If you can demonstrate you can show proof you did your civic duty. Why do I feel this way? this would be way to weed out those who are trouble makers and those who really feel stronly enough about the cause to be a good American.

Screening people to only allow certain ones to exercise basic, Constitutionally-guaranteed rights is fascism.

Maybe we should let them all protest so we can observe the non-voters utter ignorance.

In 1969, the news showed an anti war protests with scraggly looking young people.
A young guy grabbed a sign and said............"I'll lead. Let's get started"

He chanted.........." hey, hey LBJ........how many babies did you kill today /".........( reference to bombings and dropping napalm )

A scraggly girl in a long dress sprinted up to him laughing and said............" wrong president "

Just a little niggling point.

When women marched for suffrage, not one of them could have provided proof that they had voted, because, hey, guess, what, that's what they were marching for, the right to vote.

When many of the civil rights protesters marched in the segregated South, with Jim Crow laws preventing them from voting, your little idea would have prevented them from voting as well.

But then, you probably think the world would be a better place if women and minorities didn't vote.

Where did I mention "suffrage" or " civil rights" in my comments ?

I was speaking about a march last week and used an example of a true idiot from the Vietnam era.
