Is there an lively 3d community in Arkansas? I've been living here for a sometime, but never notice any interest in it(but I could be wrong).

3d?

Like AutoDesk Maya? I do that.

Otherwise, I don't think so.

If you're talking about engineering 3d modeling then the Solidworks vendor out of Little Rock (Sherwood actually) does some community building type things. Their events aren't superb and Solidworks is practically a childs toy but hey...it's there.

Traditional media 3d then? There are plenty of those in quite a number of media ranging from small pieces to fairly large scale installations. I myself would like to get into some 3d art because it's a great cross discipline between arts and engineering. The only specific organizations I know of are for sculptors:

Red River Sculpture Society
Arkansas Sculptors Guild /Sculptors of Arkansas

This site is a registry for artists and you can use it to find artists similar to what you do for networking purposes.

There's an active 3D design (FormZ, Strata, StudioMax, Sketchup, etc) community in NWAr. Designers creating packaging, merchandise displays, retail environments, product design, all for the Wal-Mart network.
