Fayetteville has several nice neighborhoods but only a few could be considered walkable. Wilson Park, Downtown west, and the Mill District are really the only I can think of. They are within walking distance of restaurants and entertainment but unfortunately you would still most likely have to take a car for shopping. However there are walking trails thru the neighborhoods that take you just about anywhere in the city. It would just be a long walk carrying groceries.

Springdale has the planned community of Harbor Meadows. It's newer homes but it's laid out as a walkable community. Shopping, restaurants, schools, parks, pools, etc. all in one place.

Downtown Bentonville and Rogers have potential. Maybe when Bentonville finishes with Crystal Bridges people will realize the potential of downtown.

Unfortunately most of NWA is typical cookie cutter suburban Mcmansions since most of the growth has been in the last 20 years.

She actually likes hillcrest, but she does not want to move away from her family in Fort Smith. Woe is me.

Oh, I see.

I kind of understand...having family around for my kid is a lot of the reason I'm still in Little Rock.

Yep. I am fortunate that I like my in-laws. They love my son. It is a sacrifice, but my son will probably benefit from being around a lot of people who love him. I was close to my grandparents and I would hate for him to not have that opportunity. Little Rock is still a possibility though, but probably not Denver, which is where I would like to be.
