I'll just vote for Hong Kong for the overall 'best' vote. Very international, cosmopolitan, beautiful bay, gorgeous mountains, plenty of skyscrapers, and a decent amount of English as well.

I can't really vote since I haven't been to Shanghai or Tokyo or Tapei.
Of the ones I've been to, I still like Singapore, it's best for food, Hong Kong looks the best, Bangkok not really my cuppa but there are some nice areas.
Mine is Osaka. It has a fantastic cuisine (way better than Tokyo) and lots of cheap shopping areas. Osaka also is not as fast paced and stressful as Tokyo. It has a great location. Close to Kyoto & Nara. Two beautiful Japanese cities.
Singapore is the best and the most liveable city in Asia. The excellent infrastructure and low crime rate have long been two of the most compelling reasons cited by expats for liking Singapore. Hong Kong is the another best city in Asia.
Ummmm Chiang Mai? It routinely makes Travel + Leisures best places to travel to list in the world for a reason.
