Can Vietnam cut ties with China and join the U.S., Japan, and Thailand as allies? I'm no expert at all, just wondering. We are in the early stages of World War 3. China an Russia are teaming up their navy's.
Hope there won't be a WW3 bc every body has too much to lose. However wars have started with much less. A WW won't be pretty this time with the possibility of nuclear weapons being used.

China is craving for some resources to feed its ever growing population. Spratlys is part of the Philippines and Philippines is a weak country in terms of military, so to bully Philippines is a piece of cake from China. So, its so clear what china's intention are or perhaps, they are just bluffing the Philippines.
