I heard that in Japan, women MUST put on makeups if they are out, otherwise they're considered very impolite.
Best example for gender inequality in a fully advanced country tbqh.
But that's not really the case among Taiwanese or Chinese tbqh.
No, many there wear no or very little makeup. And some also don't use the razor or use other methods to epilate, even if in the West they'd be expected to given how hirsute they are. Quite a few do, though, of course. I sometimes think the 'hair-free' trend is getting a wee bit over the top here sometimes.

I feel like most women around me just don't wear any makeup at all, lol.
I don't think women feeling pressured to wear makeup is an indication of respect or pride or anything. It is nothing but a old prejudice that appearance matters more to women than to men, and that women need to look good to be liked by men but not vise versa. Why don't men have the pressure to have flawless skin and impeccable hair all the time?
I respect women who choose not to wear makeup. I think it is a sign of progress.
I have a feeling that if hetero guys were setting the beauty standards for women, there would be a lot less pressure on women.
