Doesn't matter. The ROC was the successor state to the Qing Dynasty. Therefore, Taiwan rightfully belonged to the ROC government. If Japan hadn't invaded and annexed Taiwan, Taiwan would have been a province of mainland China. Japan messed it up, nothing more. Japan did not belong there.

Yeah it's not. I have friends from Beijing, and they have a strange accent that isn't standard
