All coastal cities will not have this problem. The problem is unique to Jakarta because less than 50% of the population has piped water. The city sinks when people drill for their own water

Most of Metro Manila got hooked up to piped water several decades ago, so the city stopped sinking.


Mexico City also has the same problem as Jakarta, but at least it's not on the ocean. Instead of Jakarta building piped water, which would really solve the problem, you're moving your capital and building seawalls. How about piped water? It's 2023
