The Lebanese people are very resilient. They are experts at rebuilding and reinventing themselves. This is why they are so successful whenever and wherever they emigrate!
One wonders whether the most talented among them are the ones who emigrate, though. Perhaps similar to Armenians and/or Asian Indians.
Countries don't "end". I can't think of a single sovereign country that ended in the past century. Well, OK, Tibet, and even they are still kicking and screaming..

If they have Syria, they've got one. But Syrians/Lebanese don't even speak related languages.
