The only country that has a very remote chance of invading Singapore is Malaysia and only as an act of jealousy. Singapore isn’t going around the neighborhood looking for trouble.
Much bigger Taiwan has a greater risk of invasion (from China) than tiny Singapore (from anyone). I think Singapore doesn’t have a serious terrorist attack risk unlike other cities such as NYC, London or Paris.
Singapore is a founding member (one of five countries) in ASEAN (the main Southeast Asian collective, much like NATO) and is although not a formal member, an invitee to the G20 summit of world superpowers so probably not the best idea with such company. There's no logical reason to invade or occupy Singapore other than if some conflict were to arise with Malaysia or Indonesia, or for some reason to control passage of shipping in the region given Singapore's prime location.
Malaysia or Indonesia, both unlikely but the still the risk exists. I indirectly know someone that is in the Singapore Military and there entire doctrine of their small (but technologically advanced and well trained by the IDF) military is to resist and hold off an invasion, primarily from these two neighboring countries, until someone like the US saves there ass.
All these S.E. countries, none of them trust each other. They are rivals, not partners.
There was the "Konfrontasi" which was back in the 1950s. Indonesia launched a campaign against Malaysia (Singapore was part of Malaysia around that time). Fortunately it didnt escalate into all out war and ended when the Indonesian ruler at the time (Sukarno) was overthrown.
In the present time, Singapore does have some lower level disagreements mainly with Malaysia over water supplies and some of the border boundaries, but nothing that would ever become grounds for war. Now the one thing to keep in mind is that Singapore is a majority Chinese country. Both Malaysia and Indonesia have ethnic tensions because of the small Chinese minorities that control most of the economy of both countries. So that animosity towards the Chinese within their own countries probably play some role in how those countries view Singapore, with a low level envy and resentment.
Sure. Singapore hosts several nation's vessels for port visits, etc., making it a rather strategic refueling, etc., point off the South China Sea. In order to deny certain countries the ability to port closer to crucial waterways, I could see how Singapore could be targeted. Is this likely to happen? I think it all comes down to the stage of conflict that the world would find itself in at a particular time.
