2022 has really been one thing after another, of tragic and devastating levels, and that's saying a lot after everything we went through the previous two years.
I was just entering my teens in 1968, with the Vietnam War and civil rights protest and riots, as well as the assassinations of RFK and MLK. Disturbing times. And I’m getting deja vu.

Biden has released a statement now. China on the other hand is too busy celebrating Abe's death and locking Shanghai down again.

Edit:
The White House is also flying the flag half-staff tomorrow which is ... unusual. This almost never happens for the death of a foreign leader.

India is also going in a day of mourning tomorrow for Abe which is beyond ... random. I mean, what? Abe was very popular in Taiwan but no one would ever suggest mourning him. It's not like he was Nelson Mandela. I guess Japan really is very well-loved huh.

I’m not familiar with this leader. Did he have a law background? Did he have enemies in organized crime?

Homemade shotgun. Japan has very strict gun laws. According to news reports it wasn’t political but some kind of personal grudge. I recall several years ago a prominent politician was attacked and killed with a samurai sword.

Japan is not peaceful.

Rallies in Japan protest push to amend pacifist constitution
May 3, 2022
Turning over to Japan now,... as people across the country on Tuesday protested the government's plan to amend its pacifist constitution.
The demonstrations took place on Japan's Constitution Memorial Day.
A rally in Tokyo was attended by 15-thousand people... and other protests were also held in Osaka, Hokkaido, and Hyogo Prefecture.
Participants said that due to Japan's previous wars, the country shouldn't have an army.
They also spoke out against the government's plan to increase military spending by around 38.4-billion U.S. dollars.
Meanwhile, a recent survey of 3,000 people by local Japanese outlet Yomuiri Shimbun found that 6 out of 10 respondents support the constitutional amendment.

Literally one of the last countries in the world that stuff like this would happen in. Unbelievable.

Maybe China was behind it. He was very pro-Taiwan and right wing. You never know.
SMH... An event totally unrelated to China and you try to drag China into it with absolutely no evidence.

Yes, because CNN is the epitome of reputable news.
Look at the time stamp buddy.

I've read some early reports that the assassin was the son of a woman who bankrupted her family by donating all of their money to the Unification Church.

Apparently Abe was tied somehow to the Unification Church, if not as a member then as someone sympathetic to it or otherwise entangled with it.

The assassin wanted to target church leadership but considered that task too difficult so instead he decided to target a prominent politician associated with the church.
