The time could be right for a mad cap comedy, in which a rabid atheist, a yec fundie, a islamic suicide bomber and a satanist, are forced to room together due to tough times.
Wasn't Seinfeld's title character (Jerry Seinfeld himself) an atheist or at the very least an agnostic? And Kramer, too.
If we include older TV I think most of the Federation characters on Star Trek are atheist. Star Trek:TNG was the first show I saw to have an episode that basically argued that "There is no God who intervenes in our affairs and religion is bad" (Who Watches the Watchers)
I love the little dialogues between Brennan and Booth on Bones,
Me, too. I hope that down the road they don't turn Brennan into some kind of a born-again believer as some part of a story line. I really like having an incredibly smart woman/scientist express her atheism. And having her atheism balanced by Booth's spirituality, I think, makes it all seem genuine.
If you can stand blood and guts and violence, "Dexter" might be another one. Although I don't recall him ever stating that he is an "atheist," he often talks about not believing. Of course, he's a killer, too.
Actually, that would statistically make him far more likely to be a believer.
