Pretty amazing. Gen Z are even more atheistic than millennials.

And according to an article in "The Week" Facebook is offering users 56 new gender options. A "brave new world" indeed!!

IMO, these generations are eschewing many of the patterns of previous generations including rampant consumerism, choosing to accumulate "experiences" rather than material goods. Traditional gender roles regarding child rearing are being shared and/or reversed, offices without walls, etc.

Oddly enough smoking and alcohol consumption is making a comeback, and although they seem approachable, friendly and reasonably informed, I find a disturbing underlying narcissism and detachment in some I have encountered.

Gen Z still a little young to be into some of the above, but Millenials right in the thick...

How these behavior patterns may have lead to and/or will interface with Atheism? Only time will tell I suppose....

There is nothing unusual about this; the no-religion memes are powerful. The culture has changed drastically and we are not in Victorian times anymore. Furthermore, in the Internet era anyone with reasonable intelligence can figure out there is no God. However, I am afraid the new generation is atheist because that is how they grew up. They are just like their peers and religion was not part of their childhood experience. Most of them know little about the subject.

The big question is: What replaces religion? Hopefully a proper system of ethics with no deist influence. However, I am afraid the old religion is being replaced by a new secular belief system that is equally or even more dangerous. Humans tend to find a cause and they make it pseodo-sacred. From there they develop a set of rules and behaviors that is not that different from religion. BTW, Marxism is also increasing among the Gen Z and millennials.

If they start from atheism, i.e. reason, they’ll figure the rest out as they get older, and they’ll just have to do better than previous generations. Reason dominates everything, and reason-based people will likely crush their mystical counterparts in almost every metric.

If an atheist believes there are 56 genders then his confusion and madness is much greater than that of a theist.

I only got up to eight and I ran out of ideas.

I may have sounded dismissive but your question is a legitimate one. I still see it this way, and I'm sorry if I repeat myself; human morals, ethics and law -codes is what is the 'glue' of society and always has been Religion has taken the credit and used it for its' own authority as kings did. well, America showed that you didn't need kinds and the same can happen with religion if it does happen.

Religion and it's traditions won't disappear, not as a belief and not as just the traditions. There is no question of a 'belief system' that atheism will need to replace religion. We already have one and have always had one. We merely need to unpick religion from it.

It needs to start in America, I'm sure of it and Current Events, if it goes as it should, could give it as hearty a shove as the Catholic Scandal.

its has to be that way. The more information we have the sillier many religious notions tend to look.

thats why "obscure-ism" is the tool of choice for anti-god/my-god-only religion looking groups.

It is very likely that atheism will replace religion. And this will be a good thing (particularly in the Islamic world) as long as atheism does not become a religion. That many Gen Z and millennials love socialism likely has to do with having college loans massive debt, so there is hope for the future.

If I was king I would teach one hour of ethics every day from grades 1-12. That would be my religion

Veganism is also on the rise. Yeah. Young people look at us like we're idiots, much the same way hippies used to view their conservative parents.

Something along these lines is reportedly written on the inside walls of the pyramids.
