That women are to keep their mouths shut is a later addition based on the patriarchal Romans. Paul was quiet liberated where women were concerned, allowing them to have positions of authority.
I don't think I agree. Paul specifically says in Corinthians 14: 34 and 35
Quote:
“As in all the congregations of the saints, women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says."
Since it seems that there is an interest in discussing misogyny in religion in general in addition to this specific example and/or Christianity specifically yet no one has thought to begin a new thread, I will. Moving appropriate posts from here to there.

Not seeing the authority here.
1) the passage breaks the flow about prophecy. If you take the passage out, the passage either side makes sense. If you leave it in, the following verse does not make sense in context.
2) it contradicts Paul saying women can speak in church, as in 1 Corinthians 14:11, or 1 Corinthians 11:2–16.
3) it contradicts Paul's view on women, such as in Romans 16.
4) Some early bibles had this passage at the end of chapter, and Bishop Victor of Capua appeared to have doubted it's authenticity.
Many relevant historians agree it was probably a later interpolation based on the faked 1 Timothy.
