Agreed! And I'm not saying that because I voted for the guy either. That was, in my opinion, what will go down as something that American children will read or hear about in history classes. The eloquence of his speech was simply profound and although I'm not typically the type of person who is prone to "Jangoism" I honestly couldn't help but feel proud to be an American while listening to his speech.

I'm with you. As a Gen Xer that was truly the first time I was moved by a politician. It was an honest picture. No B.S.
The thing I like about him the most is his humbleness when he speaks.
The man just got elected as the first black president and within the first 2 minutes of the speech he says something like "tonight isn't why you elected me.. we've got work to do.. and it ain't gonna be easy"
I was moved to tears by the fact that I have lived long enough to see another great historical event..Americans being Americans, not white Americans, not black Americans, not anything except Americans..The world celebrated with us ..wow, just wow..I feel this president will go down as one of the great ones..I hope and pray that the ones who fought so hard against this choice that the majority has spoken for, will now put aside their anger, their bitterness, and their dire predictions of doom, and put that energy to use in the work ahead of us to rebuild this country..
I agree. Made me proud. Hope he can live up to it all. But also, let's all remember (this means you, Ms. Pelosi, with your predictable blah blah speech this morning...) that the Democratic party didn't gain a big sweeping majority here. You only won by a few points, if that, above a near-equal split. Translation? It means nearly 50% of the voters didn't want Mr. Obama's brand of politics.
We'll soon see if he and / or his administration, plus the old guard Dems in the House and Senate, catch the very contagious "Hubris" disease, or not.
It's a killer. Takes about 4 or 8 years. Sneaks up on you because you feel fine (too fine, actually...) even as it's gainin' on you. Seems no one's real immune, and there's no "shot" you can get for it.
Best wishes, Mr. President!
